Fire Safety First
The day began with a crucial lesson in fire safety. Greg Smith, an expert in fire safety, engaged the young chefs in a 10-minute session. He explained the importance of different fire classifications, emphasizing how to handle Class A and Class K fires. Greg also demonstrated the proper use of a fire extinguisher, ensuring the children understood this essential safety skill.
B Xtreme Seasoning Sponsor
As kids checked in, they received bags of goodies and their secret weapon for the cook-off: a bottle of B Xtreme Seasoning, generously sponsored by Danny and Kay Helms. Craig Scoggins, the B Xtreme Ambassador, joined the event, adding to the excitement and energy of the day.
The Luck of the Draw
To determine the order of selecting pork chops, the young chefs drew numbered Blow Pops. This random selection added an element of anticipation and fairness. The succulent pork chops, sponsored by Paul and Kimberly Wolfe, awaited the aspiring culinary artists.
A Day of Firsts
For many kids, this event marked their first foray into the world of competitive cooking. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. Families also joined in the fun, making it a day of togetherness and shared memories.
Culinary Triumph
The true magic happened at the cook sites, where kids transformed their chosen pork chops into culinary delights. The pride and excitement they exhibited while presenting their creations for judging were truly heartwarming.
And the Apron Goes To
As the awards ceremony commenced, the atmosphere was electric. Diane Warren crafted beautiful aprons for the first through seventh-place winners, each one a token of culinary accomplishment. The top three chefs were also honored with exquisite cast iron awards, designed by Dan McClure and skillfully brought to life.
